The Lion has formed quite a relationship with its current shipwright Graham Caird. The pair meet… well let’s just say it was more than 20 years ago.
Boat builder, Graham Caird was trained as a traditional Shipwright by Davey Scott of RD Scott Ltd, a well known Invercargill boat builder and designer.
Davey passed on skills of the old days and the more modern skills too… Therefore repairs to traditional timber craft such as planking, caulking, sheathing, copper fastening etc, are second nature.
For commercial fishing vessels, repaints, fibreglass sheathing, deck restorations, wheelhouse refits and alterations are all among their skills.
